My Bio

 I am an Amarillo, Texas Local who was born and raised in this great town that has continued to grow. Having a troubled childhood, I turned to art and began drawing and sketching at the age of 7. I spent 4 years in the Chicagoland Area and took in the culture that was much different from that of Texas. In my late teens I began using Acrylic Paints. Since then, I have widened my art to many painting mediums, but Acrylic has stayed my preference and most experienced art medium. I have an associate degree in art, and bachelor degree in psychology. I spent time working for the States Department of Family Protective Services in which I gained multiple certifications in Childhood and Family Trauma Topics. During my time with the department I observed a lack of help and versatile options for families with trauma in our community. I joined the National Organization for Arts in Health as well as familiarizing myself with the Art With Heart program out of Seattle, CA. These organizations made me realize that I could help others use art to heal from trauma as I have through my life. With my husband’s great support I left my position with the State and opened Create Healing Art Studio. Many of my art pieces reflect the lack of control we have in this world, but how we handle these events can turn them into something beautiful and inspiring. I work to represent the meeting of art and healing.
